As a massive fan of 70s music, I Believe in Miracles by The Jackson Sisters is a track I regularly find myself coming back to, whether I need something to uplift my spirits or simply want to keep them flying high. I’m a natural-born dreamer; I always have been, and I always will be. There’s something about this song that makes me feel as though anything is possible and the sky really is the limit, as they say.
If you ask me, you simply can’t go wrong with saying the words, “I believe in miracles.” There is something so beautifully uncomplicated about that statement. It feels hopeful, fearless and full of possibility. Sometimes, we all need a song that reminds us to believe in something bigger than ourselves, and for me, this is one of those songs. It is nothing but positive energy from beginning to end.
It’s A Classic Full Of Soul
From the initial kick of the bass, I’m in. That distinctive, plucky twanginess immediately screams 70s to me, giving the track such a recognisable character before the song has even had a chance to fully unfold. There’s a wonderful bounce to the bass that instantly grabs my attention, and my soul feels connected and invigorated by the positivity of the track.
However, it isn’t just the instrumentation that makes I Believe in Miracles so special to me. There is an infectious quality running through the entire song, from its uplifting melody to its glorious lyrics. Everything seems to work together to create this motion of optimism and possibility.
Not only is this my favourite part of the song, but quite possibly some of my favourite lyrics ever written, when we get to the words:
“Believe in dreams as if they’re real
And one day soon your miracle will come true”
I can hear a voice in my head that simply says “LOUDER!” every single time. Honestly, it is almost impossible for me to hear those lyrics without rewinding them back. They hit so hard because they capture something I genuinely believe in: the power of allowing yourself to dream, even when the reality around you might make that difficult.
The Kind Of Song That Makes You Dream Bigger
As far as I’m concerned, by playing this song consistently in life, it is almost impossible for those optimistic words and that infectious melodic spirit not to seep into your bones. There is a kind of magical aura surrounding it — the sort of feeling that can turn an ordinary moment into something a little brighter.
I Believe in Miracles doesn’t just make me want to listen to it. It makes me want to believe — believe in endless possibilities, believe in dreams becoming reality, and believe that there are always wonderful things waiting around the corner, no matter how far away they may seem.
